Udhayanidhi Stalin and 'Vaigai Puyal' Vadivelu are set to co-star in the film Maamannan which is to release in theatres on June 29. The film is directed by Pariyerum Perumal and Karnan fame filmmaker Mari Selvaraj. His film is known to create a conversation and become a topic of discussion after release. The film also has Fahad Faasil and Keerthy Suresh in important roles. The film also has music composed by A.R. Rahman and a song from the film titled Raasa Kannu was also sung by the comedian. Ahead of the release of the film, The crew of Maamannan gave an exclusive interview with the national award-winning critic Baradwaj Rangan, The editor in chief of Galatta Plus. When asked about 'Vaigai Puyal' Vadivelu's experience singing with A.R. Rahman, the trendsetting comedian opened up about his experience.

'Vaigai Puyal' Vadivelu said “I was asked to sing a song in Kadhalan” and sang the song Petta Rap for the audience. The singer then said that he could not sing the track for A.R. Rahman because he was busy at that time and they then changed it to a women's voice. The actor then said "Kovai Sarala and I sang a song for his another film" titled Pavithra. He said even the music composer did not remember that song as he was not present while recording it. The trend-setting comedian then said A.R. Rahman has grown over the years. 'Vaigai Puyal' Vadivelu said “I had some fear at first, about how he would sing but the music composer lead him through the right path while singing the song". The singer then said the reason is the director Mari Selvaraj. The director then said Udhaynidhi Stalin and himself had a discussion that they must make Vadivelu sing a song for the film. The cast then shared an hilarious moments as the actor said or the director would have done that too.
