Maamannan is the next big film of director Mari Selvaraj that has actors Udhayanidhi Stalin and 'Vaigai Puyal' Vadivelu in important roles. The film has music by A.R. Rahman and also has Keerthy Suresh, Fahad Faasil in important roles. Ahead of the release of the film on 29th June, the Maamannan team gave an exclusive interview to Galatta Plus with the national Award-winning critic Baradwaj Rangan. There was a controversy around Mari Selvaraj's recent speech on stage about Thevar Magan. The host asked 'Vaigai Puyal' Vadivelu how he sees the film Thevar Magan from the perspective of the Maamannan director, he began by saying “That is a sympathy character”.

'Vaigai Puyal' Vadivelu then said that the director had said in a recent interview, that his character in Thevar Magan has a lot of pain and people would pity that Esakki character even if they watch it no. “That film is a treasure that I got when I entered the cinema and I got that Esakki character after acting in just 3-4 films, surprisingly. Even if I watch it now, I would cry because the character that I played. And, that pain is here too." The actor then explained that it's is just a reference and said in that film he would not have hands so some think that in this movie too my character would not have hands and that is not true. The pain of that character he (Mari Selvaraj) had portrayed and carried in this character too. The actor then said "the film is an important one in my history and in the same way Maamannan character in this film will also be a benchmark”. He then said that this was made possible by Udhayanidhi Stalin because he was the one who told Vadivelu about the film and he approached me for the role and I like it.
The anticipated film Maamannan is the last film of Udhayanidhi Stalin as an actor as he is now a Minister of the Tamil Nadu assembly. Watch the full interview:
