Vaamanan music review
About the film: Dream Valley Corporation's Vaamanan directed by Kathir’s protégé Ahmed stars Jai, Priya Anand and Lakshmi Rai in lead roles. The story deals with the transformation of an ordinary individual to a superhero. Post Subramaniyapuram, Jai has won appreciation for his boy-next-door image. To match his onscreen image, Vaamanan will present him as a real-life achiever.
Vaamanan Music: Yuvanshankar Raja, the youth musical icon, has composed the music. Each of the five songscreates a different yet profound mood and impact inlisteners’ minds. Label: Sony Music
‘Edho Seigirai’ is a soft melodybasically characterised by high-range notes. But for his clear-cut pronunciation, Javed Ali’s voice is similar to Udit Narayan’s accent, tone and style. Sowmya belongs to the quintessentialgroup of melody queens.
Singers: Sowmya Rao, Javed Ali
‘Oru Devathai’ is a pure composition that is mostlyset to create magic in the highest pitch. The accompanying instruments authenticate the genre of the song. Only a singer who has a well-trained voice with a bold presence in such high pitch will be able to deliver it without spoiling the song’s life. Roopkumar does it excellently.
Singer: Roopkumar Rathod
'Lucky Star' is a typical example of the Western influence in our contemporary movie music. It is also in singer Blaaze’s trademark style. Suvi, a new singer, offers good support to the popular rapper.
Singers: Blaaze, Suvi
‘Enge Povadhu’ is soft, sad and touching. The lyrics reveal the hero’s forlorn status and his inherent need and search to fill the emotional void left by his lover. In many ways, Vijay’s voice resembles that of his father K.J. Yesudas’. It is indeed difficult even for aYesudas fan to differentiate between the father's and son’s voices.
Singers: Vijay Yesudas
Currently, Tamil movie playback industry is experiencing a great boom. With reality shows identifying new and talented singers, music directors and audiences are listening to new voices everyday. ‘Money Money’ is in new singers Preethi and Earl’s voices. Gifted with a powerful voice, Preethi delivers the Western number with panache and Earl does the intermittent rap portions equally well.
Singers: Preethi, Earl
Yuvanshankar Raja has proved himself once again through the Vaamanan album. All the songs are blissful and enjoyable.
