Popular Malayalam actor Tovino Thomas injured himself on his stomach last week while shooting an action sequence for his upcoming film, Kala, being directed by VS Rohith. He was put under observation in the ICU for two days in a private hospital in Kochi after he started bleeding internally. Known among Tamil cinema fans for starring as the antagonist in Dhanush's Maari 2 and as the lead in Abhiyum Anuvum opposite Pia Bajpai, Tovino has now issued a statement on his recovery, while also extending his gratitude towards all those who had wished him for his recovery. 

Tovino's statement is as follows: "A big HELLO from home!

I got discharged and is fine at home now. Thanks and love for all your wishes and concern in the last few days. The doctors and hospital staff took great care of me. A big thanks to them.
Also thanks to everyone who supported me - colleagues, family, friends, cinema lovers and everyone who showed their care.

I really felt positive seeing your messages and calls. The incident hopefully makes me take better care of my self. Hoping to get back to work soon and keep entertaining you with good movies.
Till then I'll rest and enjoy your love.

Tovino rose to the top in the Malayalam film industry in quick time after his debut in the 2012 film, Prabhuvinte Makkal. He has since then gone on to star in several notable films which include You Too Brutus, Onnam Loka Mahayudham, Oru Mexican Aparatha, Godha, Tharangam, Mayanadhi, Naam, Theevandi, Maradona, Oru Kuprasidha Payyan, Ente Ummante Peru, Uyare, Virus, And the Oscar Goes To..., Luca, Kalki, Edakkad Battalion 06, Forensic and most recently Kilometers and Kilometers. He also starred as the villain in Mohanlal's blockbuster, Lucifer and will next be seen in the highly-anticipated Minnal Murali and Varav. 

His Kala will reportedly be revolving around the relationship between a man and an animal, with a dog named Bazigar set to be seen in a vital role in the film, including actors Lal, Divya Pillai and Sumesh Moor forming the supporting cast. Being produced under the Juvis Productions banner, the film’s technical crew includes cinematographer Akhil George and editor Livingston Mathew.
