TN CM to hold discussion on May 12 with district collectors on lockdown extension
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami will be holding a discussion via video-conferencing with district collectors on May 12 regarding the possibility of yet another lockdown in the state. The ongoing lockdown will be coming to an end on May 17 across the nation after it was first imposed on March 25 till April 14 and then extended to May 3. The possibility of the lockdown being extended is being considered especially after a radical spike in the number of coronavirus cases despite the state providing a number of lockdown restrictions. As of now, only the state of Telangana has officially extended the lockdown till May 29 and it remains to be seen whether Tamil Nadu as well will follow suit.
Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami will hold yet another discussion with district collectors on May 13 regarding a revision on the coronavirus prevention measures being implemented across the state. The number of coronavirus positive cases in Tamil Nadu stands at 6,535 patients with 44 people declared dead so far. The state had witnessed 526 new positive COVID-19 cases on Saturday with Chennai city alone recording 279 people being infected by the virus taking the district's total to 3,134 cases. Discussions will be held on plans to carry forward the activities across the state with restrictions being eased off considerably despite the rise in the number of coronavirus cases.
