A film that went on to garner instant cult following was the 2015 rom-com Malayalam film, Premam, directed by Alphonse Putharen.Starring Nivin Pauly, Sai Pallavi, Madonna Sebastian and Anupama Parameswaran, the film went on to be celebrated in Kerala, but a lot more in Tamil Nadu.


Premam had a highly successful theatrical run in Chennai for over 200 days; a feat quite rare for any film in this modern day and age especially with video piracy being rampant.


It must be noted that Alphonse Putharen sometime back announced he would be producing a film in Malayalam next, which would be helmed by his friend Mohsin Kassim with music by Rajesh Murugesan. The title for this upcoming film has been announced to be Thobama and will feature Siju Wilson, Krishna Shankar, Shabareesh Varma and Sharafudheen, who played Nivin Pauly’s friends in Premam.

Although Thobama will not feature Nivin Pauly, we can expect more new fun antics from the Premam gang.
