The Kerala Story is a Hindi-language film that sparked controversy ahead of it's release in theatres. The film was directed by Sudipto Sen who previously made the films Aasma, The Last Monk, Lucknow Times, etc. It has Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balami and Siddhi Idnani in lead roles. Despite backlash the film grossed over Rs.200 crores in Box Office Collections across India few weeks ago. Now, some reports have stated that the film is inching towards the Rs. 250 crores milestone. It is said that the film has grossed over Rs.225 crore mark in the box office. The Kerala Story was released on May 5 and entered the Rs.200 crore club on its 18th day of release.

The Kerala Story sparked a huge controversy as the trailer of the film shows three women who are lured into converting to Islam and are recruited into the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). It is said that film is based on a true story. The film was banned from release in West Bengal. Recently, legendary actor Kamal Haasan voice his opinion about the film saying he's against propagandist films and that it's not enough just t wrote a true story at the bottom as a logo”.
There were also cases filed in the Supreme Court to ban The Kerala Story from release but the court dismissed the plea. It is bankrolled by Vipul Amrutlal Shah under the banner of Sunshine Pictures who previously produced the films Cammando 1, 2, and 3, Sanak and A.R. Murugadoss’s Holiday. The producer was also the creative director of the film which has music composed by Viresh Sreevalsa and Vishakh Jyothi. Despite all the controversies and backlash the film is running successfully in theatres as it is said that the film is to cross the Rs.250 crore milestone.
