National Award-winning Tamil actor 'Chiyaan' Vikram's next big film, Thangalaan, is gearing up for a grand theatrical release on January 26, 2024, and promotions for the highly ambitious film have officially kicked off. The upcoming film directed by acclaimed filmmaker Pa. Ranjith releasing in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada languages featuring music by G. V. Prakash Kumar had its teaser launched in Chennai on Wednesday, November 1, with the cast and crew interacting with the press about what's in store for audiences in cinemas early next year.
Speaking at the Thangalaan teaser launch event, Vikram opened up on his filming experiences and the various challenges the cast and the crew encountered during production, while also showering his praise on director Pa. Ranjith. He said, "The film tells the story of a community and sheds light on their pain, joy, and lifestyle during the British era. It is not going to be just another film. Kantara was a small film, but it garnered appreciation from all quarters across the country as it showed local folklore in a different manner. Likewise, I believe that Thangalaan will be an eye-opener for Indian cinema, and maybe for world cinema too, hopefully."
Vikram also spoke about the use of live-sync sound during filming calling it tough as some of the scenes in Thangalaan were single shots, and the artistes would be wearing microphones. He also shared that there would be no time to relax once a shot has been completed as the shooting will be taking place continuously from morning to night, while also revealing that there weren't be any chairs at times on the set calling it the toughest film he has done in his career. Vikram also praised Pa. Ranjith's direction calling his work in Thangalaan a hundred times bigger than Sarpatta Parambarai in terms of the making, while also expressing his happiness at collaborating with the celebrated filmmaker. He further shared how Ranjith has the guts to explore a new range in filmmaking, while also stating that some of the stunt sequences in the film were quite risky, but called the complete experience a nice and memorable one.
