Revealing that there's going to be new footage from Thangalaan, G. V. Prakash informed fans on Twitter that the visuals are going to be phenomenal, while adding that it will be "breathtaking". The film was announced last October with a surprise announcement video giving audiences the first visual glimpse of what acclaimed filmmaker Pa. Ranjith and National Award-winning Tamil actor Vikram are cooking together with their upcoming venture. Set around the pre-Independence period and in the Kolar Gold Fields (KGF), Ranjith addressed the media earlier this week during the launch of the Vaanam Art Festival and told that almost 80% of the portions have been shot, with only 25 days of filming remaining. He further informed that there are plans to release Thangalaan by the end of the year since the film will include a lot of VFX, which will take time to get completed.
Pa. Ranjith's Thangalaan will see 'Chiyaan' Vikram sharing screen space with Malayalam actress Parvathy Thiruvoth of Maryan fame, while Pasupathy has been cast in a powerful role once again after his knockout performance in Sarpatta Parambarai. Some other major cast members of the period action drama film include English actor Daniel Caltagirone, who has been cast as the antagonist, followed by Master heroine Malavika Mohanan and Madras fame Harikrishnan Anbudurai in crucial roles.
