'Thalapathy' Vijay's Varisu will be released in Tamil Nadu by reputed producer-distributor Lalit Kumar's Seven Screen Studio banner, as per an official announcement on Sunday, November 20. Producer Dil Raju's Sri Venkateswara Creations dropped the big announcement about the collaboration for the upcoming film, which is set to open in cinemas worldwide as a grand Pongal release in January 2023. Seven Screen Studio too has expressed its elation at being associated with Vijay's Varisu and fans expect the film to get a huge release in theatres across Tamil Nadu.

There has been a lot of buzz surrounding the release of Varisu in Tamil Nadu of late considering Seven Screen Studio tasted massive success when it joined hands with producer Xavier Britto's XB Film Creators banner for the 2021 box office blockbuster, Master, which was directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. With the collaboration now official between Seven Screen Studio and Sri Venkateswara Creations banners, Varisu is expected to secure a good number of theatres in Tamil Nadu and the two banners will be looking to get a huge opening as Vijay's fans have been pumped for its release for months now. Varisu is also coming out in Telugu under the title Vaarasudu and is being directed by Vamshi Paidipally, with the team over the last few days filming key sequences said to be a part of the film's climax at Hampi in Karnataka. The film will see Vijay paired with national sensation Rashmika Mandanna for the first time and the duo's on-screen chemistry was finally witnessed by all for the first time in the 'Ranjithame' song released a few days back. Varisu has an ensemble supporting cast featuring the likes of Prabhu, Sarathkumar, Prakash Raj, Khushbu, Yogi Babu, Jayasudha, Sangeetha Krish, Shaam, Srikanth, Samyuktha Shanmughanathan, art director D. R. K. Kiran, with SJ Suryah also speculated to be making a special appearance, and music director Thaman. S composing the songs and the background score.
