'Thalapathy' Vijay's Varisu continues to dominate the box office after its release and has crossed 250 crores in worldwide box office collections. Directed by Vamshi Paidipally under Dil Raju's Sri Venkateswara Creations banner, the family entertainer has been released across Tamil Nadu by Lalit Kumar's 7 Screen Studio and is still seeing a strong audience turnout in theatres three weeks after its release. Among the various big USPs of Varisu is also veteran actress Jayasudha, who played the role of Vijay, Srikanth Meka, and Shaam's mother, and has now in an exclusive interview with Galatta opened up about her experience working alongside some of the biggest names in South Indian cinema in the film.

During the interview, Jayasudha also went on to reveal that she was initially cast as Ajith Kumar's mother in the 2022 blockbuster, Valimai. She said, "I did Valimai. I shot only for a day. After that, the pandemic struck and they didn't shoot for a year. During such a time, I was a little afraid to shoot. So, they then had to re-shoot (those portions)." The role of Ajith's mother in Valimai was eventually portrayed by veteran actress Sumithra and was one of the big plot points of the film, which was directed by H. Vinoth and produced by Boney Kapoor.
In Varisu, the mother-son relationship between Jayasudha and Vijay was one of the strong points and won the hearts of family audiences everywhere. She was paired with R. Sarathkumar, while Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Yogi Babu, Sangeetha Krish, Samyuktha Shanmughanathan, Nandini Rai, Ganesh Venkatraman, Sriman, VTV Ganesan, Bharath Reddy, Sanjana among others appeared in pivotal roles. It is to be noted that Khushbu Sundar and John Vijay too were a part of the film's cast and there are plans to release their scenes as deleted features in the days ahead.
