Actor Vijay, fondly addressed by his fans and followers as 'Thalapathy', conveyed his heartfelt gratitude to 'Superstar' Rajinikanth over the telephone for his wishes over the launch of his political party on Wednesday, February 7. While en route to Hyderabad, Telangana, yesterday, Rajinikanth spoke to media persons who queried him about Vijay's political entry, with the veteran actor extending his congratulations for his big decision.

Vijay launched the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam on February 2 and the news has been met with a warm reception from all quarters, with personalities from all walks of life, including celebrities congratulating him on his political journey. The actor last week issued a note thanking everyone for their wishes by writing, "I profusely thank from the bottom of my heart respected leaders of various political parties, beloved film fraternity friends, affectionate brothers, sisters, and mothers of Tamilnadu". (sic) He added, "My dearest and always encouraging media friends, last but not the least, my huge pillar of support "En Nenjil Kudiyirukkum Thozargal" for wishing me on my new political journey for the welfare and victory of TamilNadu." (sic)
On the acting front, 'Thalapathy' Vijay is currently filming The Greatest of All Time under Venkat Prabhu's direction, which is gearing up for a grand theatrical release this year. The actor will bid farewell to his career in cinema with the yet-to-be-announced Thalapathy 69 after which he will dive full time into politics. In his statement about his political entry last week, Vijay informed that the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam will not be contesting in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha polls, but will make its electoral debut in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. 'Superstar' Rajinikanth, on the other hand, is awaiting the release of his daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth's big directorial comeback film, Lal Salaam, hitting screens worldwide on February 9. He is at present shooting for Vettaiyan being directed by Jai Bhim (2021) fame T. J. Gnanavel and will next join the production of blockbuster filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj's Thalaivar 171 in the months ahead.
