The highly anticipated Thalapathy 65 is on track leading to its release. The film titled Beast is set to release in theatres on 14th April 2022 on the occasion of Tamil New Year and will also have dubbed versions in Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada. It is said to be a black comedy action thriller which is written and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Sun Pictures. Anirudh Ravichander has been brought on board to score the music and this will be his third collaboration with Vijay and Nelson after their respective films- Kathithi and Master; Kolamaavu Kokila and Doctor. Manoj Paramahamsa is the man behind the lens, editing is handled by R. Nirmal and production design is supervised by D.R.K. Kiran.
Beast stars Vijay and Pooja Hedge in lead roles with big names like Selvaraghavan, VTV Ganesh and Yogi Babu also being a part of the cast. The movie was shot across various locations in Chennai including a specially designed set resembling that of a shopping mall where most of the film was shot, while certain schedules took place in Delhi and Georgia, as well. The shooting of the film is completed and the makers are currently busy with the post production which is happening at a rapid pace.
The latest update is that the OTT rights for the movie has been attained by Netflix once again. It had earlier attained the rights for Vijay's Mersal and Sarkar as well. It will be released onto the platform post its theatrical release. Movies produced under Sun Pictures banner have been noticed to be following this particular pattern when they release their movies on Sun NXT, their OTT platform and on Netflix simultaneously. Movies like Annaatthe, Petta, Sarkar and Namma Veettu Pillai have followed this pattern and it seems to work out as it garners a variety of audiences from all over the world.
