'Thalapathy' Vijay's fans have been keeping a close watch on the developments related to his upcoming film, the tentatively titled Thalapathy 68, being directed by blockbuster Tamil filmmaker Venkat Prabhu. There has been quite a lot of talk surrounding the title of the Vijay-starrer over the past week as rumors began trending on social media stating the film will be called either Boss or Puzzle. In that regard, Thalapathy 68 creative producer Archana Kalpathi on Wednesday issued a clarification denying the titles that are circulating online and told fans to stay patient for the announcement that will be coming out soon, while informing everyone that the film's director Venkat Prabhu is preparing something exceptional. Taking to X, she wrote, "Just saw all the updates. Thank you for the love ❤️ Keep calm and wait for the real one very soon @vp_offl is cooking something special. It is definitely not Boss or Puzzle 😊 Happy Morning everyone ❤️ #Thalapathy68" (sic)

There has been quite a lot of excitement surrounding the Thalapathy 68 title ever since the film was announced in May this year, with production kicking off in October following a formal pooja ceremony. The film's team has been keeping fans updated consistently and this latest statement about the title suggests that an announcement is on the cards on New Year's Eve, with an official confirmation now awaited. Considering Venkat Prabhu and Vijay's films over the years have gone with a single word for their film titles on most occasions, expectations are high that the duo and the Thalapathy 68 team will opt for something similar.
Announced to open in cinemas grandly in 2024, Thalapathy 68 will see Vijay sharing screen space with youth sensation Meenakshi Chaudhary, who is playing the female lead, while Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, Mohan, Jayaram, Laila, Sneha, Yogi Babu, Ajmal Amir, VTV Ganesh, Venkat Prabhu's younger brother Premgi Amaren and their regular collaborators Vaibhav, Aravind Akash, and Ajay Raaj are cast in pivotal roles. Likewise, the film also marks the first time after two decades that Vijay is collaborating with Venkat Prabhu's go-to music director Yuvan Shankar Shankar Raja after their Pudhiya Geethai (2003) and fans look forward to him delivering chart-topping hits songs and a powerful background score once again.
