Romance is a genre that never fails to generate a following and a movie which has turned out to get a cult following from within this genre is the Tamil movie 96, which was directed by C Premkumar and had Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha in the lead. A romantic tale of two childhood lovers meeting again at a school reunion. Vijay Sethupathi's Ram and Trisha's Janu have almost become immortally etched onto the minds of all moviegoers. Following the massive success of 96, it was announced that the movie would be remade in Kannada and Telugu. Now, we have an update on the Telugu remake.

Samantha, who is reprising Trisha's role in the Telugu version of 96, has revealed through her Instagram post that the movie's shoot has been wrapped up. This Telugu version, which is being directed by Premkumar himself, is being produced by Dil Raju under his Sri Venkateswara Creations banner. Sharwananad is reprising Vijay Sethupathi's role in this Telugu version. The technicians who worked in 96 have been roped in for the Telugu version too. The Kannada version of this movie, which had been titled 99, had Golden Star Ganesh and Bhavana in the lead. The fans and the team of 96 celebrated the first year anniversary of this movie's release, very recently on October 4th.
