The first phase of the 2024 general elections began on Friday, April 19, in all the 39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu, with several leading Tamil cinema celebrities casting their votes at polling stations in Chennai. In that light, Tamil actor Soori too went to cast his vote earlier today, but was met with a disappointing news that his name wasn't in the electoral rollss. The popular comedy star posted a video on social media addressing the incident saying he wasn't able to cast his vote in the General Elections 2024 despite having fulfilled his democratic right in the previous elections.
Soori said, "I came here to fulfill my democratic duty. I have fulfilled my right and cast my vote in all the previous elections. But, it's being said at this booth that my name has been left out. My wife's name is there. My vote isn't there. I came here to fulfill my democratic right and it's heart-breaking that I'm not able to do it." He further stated, "I don't know whose mistake this is or how it has happened. Instead of casting my vote and telling others to vote, I'm saying this with the pain of not being able to cast my vote that you all should fulfill your democratic duty. It's extremely important and good for the nation. Cast your votes without fail. I will hope that I will cast my vote in the next elections."
