'Superstar' Rajinikanth thanked Tamil Nadu Governor R. N. Ravi and Chief Minister M. K. Stalin for their birthday wishes on Wednesday, December 13. The leading Tamil actor celebrated his 73rd birthday on Tuesday, December 12, and also issued another detailed statement expressing his gratitude to political leaders, cinema stars, and sportspersons from across the country, while conveying his gratefulness to his friends and fans around the world. Rajinikanth wrote, "I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the respected Governor Thiru. R. N. Ravi and my dear friend Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Thiru. M. K. Stalin for their wishes on my birthday." 

In his note thanking prominent political leaders, film stars, and sportspersons for their birthday wishes, Rajinikanth wrote, "I would like to convey my heartfelt thankfulness to respected Thiru. Edappadi K. Palaniswami, Thiru. O. Panneerselvam, Thiru. K. Annamalai, Thiru. N. Chandrababu Naidu, and all my politician friends at the Centre and the State.., friend Thiru. Kamal Haasan, Thiru. Ilaiyaraaja, Thiru. Vairamuthu, Thiru. S. P. Muthuraman, Thiru. Shah Rukh Khan and all my friends in the film world.., Thiru. Sachin Tendulkar, Thiru. Suresh Raina, Thiru. Harbhajan Singh and all the sportspersons.., all my well-wishers across all fields, friends, journalists.., my fans who as Gods make me live on, the people of Tamil Nadu, and all my fans and friends around the world.." He added a footnote writing, "Work: Makes time pass! Drives away poverty!! Protects the body". Rajinikanth ended his note by writing, "Let's work and have fun"

On the work front, Rajinikanth will be seen in a key role in his daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth's Lal Salaam coming out in theatres worldwide for Pongal in January 2024. He is currently filming his next big film, Vettaiyan, under Jai Bhim fame T. J. Gnanavel's direction, which is expected to be launched into cinemas next year. Rajinikanth also has the tentatively titled Thalaivar 171, which will see him collaborating with Leo director Lokesh Kanagaraj for the first time and is set to roll into production next year.
