'Superstar' Rajinikanth is joining hands with Sajid Nadiawala, the blockbuster Bollywood producer-filmmaker confirmed on social media on Tuesday, February 27. The reputed director made the news of their big collaboration on X writing, "It's a true honour to collaborate with the legendary @rajinikanth Sir! Anticipation mounts as we prepare to embark on this unforgettable journey together!" (sic) Rajinikanth and Sajid Nadiawala are teaming up for a new project for the first time and the big announcement has no doubt taken fans by surprise, who have been extending their wishes to the iconic Tamil actor for signing up for yet another project.

Sajid's wife Wardha Nadiadwala also posted expressed her happiness on Instagram along with pictures wishing Rajinikanth and his wife Latha Rajinikanth on the occasion of their 43rd wedding anniversary. She wrote, "Your everlasting love is an inspiration to all of us! Wishing you a very very happy anniversary Thalaiva and Amma! 🥰 loads of love and duas on your special day Here’s to a life time of love and happiness ❤️ and of course for 7 janam as well 🧿" (sic) No other details are known at this point about Rajinikanth's upcoming project and further announcements are expected in the days ahead. Sajid Nadiadwala has produced blockbusters in Hindi over the years among which include all the four films in the Housefull franchise, Highway (2014), Chhichhore (2019), and 83 (2021), to name a notable few, while also venturing into direction with the Salman Khan-starrer Kick (2014).
Rajinikanth has been on a signing spree of late after the stellar box office success of his Jailer (2023) and was recently seen in a special appearance in his daughter Aishwarya's Lal Salaam. The leading Tamil actor is currently filming Vettaiyan under Jai Bhim (2021) fame TJ Gnanavel's direction. The upcoming film is a multi-starrer and also features Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Kishore, Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan, GM Sundar, Rohini, Rao Ramesh, Ramesh Thilak, Rakshan among others in pivotal roles, with the songs and the background score being composed by 'Rockstar' Anirudh Ravichander. After completing Vettaiyan, Rajinikanth will team up with blockbuster Tamil director Lokesh Kanagaraj for the tentatively titled Thalaivar 171, which also will include music composed by Anirudh. There have also been reports claiming that Rajinikanth is set to work with a number of other leading Tamil filmmakers and announcements in that regard are still awaited.
