History has been created at the cinemas as films like 'Superstar' Rajinikanth's Jailer (Tamil), Sunny Deol's Gadar 2 (Hindi), Akshay Kumar's OMG 2 (Hindi), and 'Megastar' Chiranjeevi's Bholaa Shankar (Telugu) have set the cash registers ringing by collectively grossing nearly 400 crores at the box office, the Multiplex Association of India (MAI) and Producers Guild of India (Guild) announced in a joint statement on Monday, August 14. Their statement further said that the four films have set a new all-time theatrical gross box office record in Indian cinema's 100+ year history drawing 2.10 crore moviegoers to theatres across the country, which in turn is also the highest combined admissions record in the last 10 years. The Producers Guild of India and Multiplex Association of India also announced that 11th-13th August was its busiest single weekend post re-opening thus validating that the cinema industry is back in full action.

This weekend has been a wonderful experience for people who love the mainstream Indian films."
Likewise, Kamal Gianchandani, President of the Multiplex Association, said, "It was a historic weekend, it proves once again that India loves going to the movies to see great films.
