Rajinikanth, who was last seen in Annaatthe, is currently working on his next big film, Jailer, being produced by Sun Pictures, which will be hitting screens worldwide in 2023. Touted to be a mass masala action entertainer, the film is being directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and also stars Ramya Krishnan, Taramani and Rocky fame Vasanth Ravi, comedian Yogi Babu and Malayalam actor Vinayagan. Jailer marks the third time 'Rockstar' Anirudh Ravichander is composing music for a 'Superstar' venture for the third time after delivering chart-busters in Petta (2019) and Darbar (2020). The upcoming venture is a big film as both Rajinikanth and director Nelson will want to hit the bullseye considering their Annaatthe (2021) and Beast (2022) earned mixed reviews despite turning out to be highly profitable at the box office. Likewise, Jailer also marks the first time after two decades that Rajinikanth and Ramya Krishnan will be sharing screen space with each other after their Padayappa, which went on to become the most celebrated film in 1999.
