Superstar Rajinikanth's Annaatthe is one of the most anticipated films that is widely expected by the fans. The makers of the film have now made a big breaking announcement revealing that Annaatthe will release in theatres on November 4, 2021. This year's Diwali falls on the said date which happens to be a Thursday. This means that Annaatthe will get a 4-day opening weekend at the box office and let us hope that the 50% occupancy of theatres get changed to 100% by then. The film is produced by Kalanithi Maran under his banner of Sun Pictures and this new release date announcement was made through the official Twitter handle of Sun Pictures. This news has made the fans excited and the entire social media is abuzz about it.

Annaatthe happens to be Rajinikanth's next outing after Darbar and it is directed by Siva of Viswasam and Vedalam fame. Annaatthe will be an action based family entertainer set in a rural backdrop and it is going to be exciting to see Rajinikanth in a rural makeover. The film features Keerthy Suresh as one of the leads and according to reports, she would be seen as Rajinikanth's younger sister. It is said that the core emotion of the film happens to be the relationship between Rajinikanth and Keerthy Suresh. Lady Superstar Nayanthara, Khushbu Sundar, and Meena would be seen as the other female leads. Prakash Raj, Soori, Sathish are also a part of the film's star cast.

After the relaxation of the lockdown, the shooting of Annaatthe had resumed in December 2020 in Hyderabad, but the shoot was stopped midway after 4 crew members from the team were tested positive for Corona virus. Later, Superstar Rajinikanth also had a few health issues and he returned to Chennai. We will have to wait for a few more days to get better clarity regarding the film's shooting plans. On the technical side, this film has music scored by D Imman, cinematography by Vetri and editing by Ruben.

Now that Annaatthe has been announced as a Diwali 2021 release, it looks like Thalapathy 65, directed by Nelson, would release on some other day. Initially, it was believed that Thalapathy 65 will release for this year's Diwali festival, but looking at Annaatthe’s release plans, it is most likely that the Vijay starrer would come out on some other day, probably, for 2022 Pongal.
