Superstar Rajinikanth's Annaatthe which was released for the festive occasion of Diwali last year had opened to mixed reviews from the critics and audiences. However, the film managed to do good business at the box office. The film had its world television premiere on Friday, January 14, 2022, on Sun TV for the festive occasion of Pongal, and it seems to have recorded huge numbers with regards to the TRP. Yes! According to the official statistic report from BARC, Annaatthe has recorded 17.37 Million Impressions on its first television telecast which happened on January 14.
The film has also recorded a massive 21.60 TVR points. These numbers are indeed huge and Annaatthe is ranked the third top viewed film on television. Ajith Kumar's blockbuster hit, Viswasam holds first place with 18.14 Million Impressions, followed by Vijay Antony's Pichaikkaran which has 17.69M impressions. Annaatthe has secured third place (on its World Television Premiere) and interestingly, the highest ever for a Rajinikanth film.
These numbers indeed tell us that Annaatthe has struck a chord with the family audiences. Notably, Viswasam and Annaatthe were directed by the same person - Siva and he has now got two of his movies on the list of Top 3 Tamil movies with the highest TRP.
This statistical report tells us that Siva has managed to touch the pulse of the mainstream family audiences. Superstar Rajinikanth's worldwide fan base and the colourful star cast also play an equal part in bringing these numbers. Annaatthe features Rajinikanth, Keerthy Suresh, and Nayanthara in the lead roles, with Khushbu Sundar, Meena, Jagapathi Babu, Abhimanyu Singh, Prakash Raj, Soori, and Sathish playing supporting roles. Imman composed the music for this film which was bankrolled by Sun Pictures. With Annaatthe earning a good viewership on its television premiere, all eyes are on the next film of Superstar Rajinikanth and it is yet to be officially announced.
