Sudha Kongara and Suriya's move to make Soorarai Pottru, based loosely on the life story of Air Deccan founder Captain G. R. Gopinath, turned out to be a stroke of genius as the film continues to be revered by many for its performances and technical aspects. Produced jointly under the 2D Entertainment and Sikhya Entertainment banners, Soorarai Pottru is currently being remade in Hindi and under Sudha Kongara's direction with Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar set to be seen in the character portrayed by Suriya, while Radhika Madan will be playing the role of Aparna Balamurali.
