Subhash Ghai opens screenwriting workshop
Eminent Indian filmmaker Subhash Ghai, well-known for his films Karz (1980), Hero (1983), Meri Jung (1985), Karma (1986), Saudagar (1991), Khalnayak (1993), Pardes (1997) and Taal (1999), has inaugurated a workshop on screenwriting at Vylopilli Samskruthi Bhavan, Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday as a part of the ongoing 13th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK).
Addressing the packed hall, Subhash Ghai said that he enjoyed art films more than the commercial films screened in IFFK this year. The art of telling a story is the most difficult part of�film making, he said. The four-day workshop is led by Amonon Buchbinder, representative of Praxis and Anjum Rajbali, the renowned scriptwriter.
An exhibition titled 'Paths crossed by Malayalam Cinema' at Kanakakkunnu Palace is another attraction of the film festival. The exhibition displays the journey of Malayalam cinema from its beginning. Antique cameras (Mitchel camera), projectors (Cine Paillard), other cinematographic tools like tripods and lights and a rare collection of photographs and albums�showcasing the history of Malayalam cinema are on display. The exhibition will be open till December 19.
