In a career spanning nearly five decades, actor Sridevi Kapoor had gone on to establish herself as the first female superstar of India.
The news of the acclaimed actor’s death on Saturday sent shockwaves across film fraternities across the nation as well as among fans. As of now, her mortal remains are expected to come to Mumbai later tonight.
A Padma Shri awardee, Sridevi had been felicitated in 2013 with the fourth highest civilian award from the Government of India.
Having starred in over 200 films in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada, Sridevi had gone on to establish herself as the queen of the silver screen across all film industries between the mid-70s to the early 90s.
Sridevi was last seen in a full-length starring role in last year’s multilingual film, Mom.
Meanwhile, Sridevi will be seen in a highly anticipated Bollywood film later this year.
Zero starring 'Bollywood Baadshah' Shah Rukh Khan along with Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma as the female leads, the film being directed by Anand L. Rai under the joint production of Red Chillies Entertainment and Colour Yellow Productions banners will hit screens in December.
Sridevi will reportedly be seen in a cameo in Zero alongside Salman Khan, Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukherjee, Alia Bhatt, Kajol, Juhi Chawla and Karisma Kapoor.
As of now, the length of her role in Zero is unknown and is being kept under tight wraps by the makers.
It will no doubt be sad for the actor’s die-hard fans to witness her performing on the big screen when the film comes out in theatres later this year.
