South African first-class cricketer Solo Nqweni tests positive for COVID-19, he took to his Twitter space to confirm the news - “So last year I got GBS, and have been battling this disease for the past 10 months and I’m only halfway through my recovery. I got TB, my liver failed and my kidney failed. Now today I tested positive for coronavirus. I don’t understand why all of this is happening to me.” Solo is only 27 years old and he his body is all suffering a lot with a mystery illness before it was diagnosed as Guillain–Barré syndrome. He spent the next five months in a Scottish hospital before he was well enough to return home to South Africa in January 2020. The following month, the South Africa cricket team pledged 50,000 rand to help with Nqweni's rehabilitation.
We hope Solo manages to fight all these diseases and get back to the Cricket field soon. Nqweni played for South Africa Under-19s in 2012 and has been contracted to Eastern Province and the Warriors franchise since. In his most recent game for Eastern Province, the three-day provincial cup final, in April, he scored 95 from No.7. He is a fast-bowling all-rounder who can bat pretty well. With good mental and physical health, Solo Ngweni could become a good cricketer.
