Six new coronavirus symptoms added by the US health body CDC

Medical experts in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the United States have now added six new symptoms to the list of signs related to the coronavirus disease. The six new COVID-19 virus symptoms include chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat and new loss of taste or smell. These new coronavirus symptoms come on top of the already existing ones which include fever, cough with shortness of breath or difficulty in breathing, which have left over 2.9 million people worldwide affected by the disease while claiming more than 207,000 lives. A statement on CDC's website read, "People with COVID-19 have had a wide range of symptoms reported – ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. These symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus,".

The CDC also issued emergency warning signs that would require medical attention at the earliest among which include trouble in breathing, persistent pain or pressure in the chest, new confusion or inability to arouse, bluish lips or face. The health body added saying that the list is not completely inclusive with people informed to consult their medical provider for any other symptoms that might seem severe. The CDC also clarified that a runny nose is rarely associated with COVID-19 while sneezing is still not a symptom of the virus.

People have been informed by the World Health Organization (WHO) and CDC to keep a note on the fever, dry cough and difficulties faced during breathing. Reports of loss of sense of smell and taste soon became common followed by gastrointestinal issues such as diarrhoea. Many children and young adults also began seeing purple or blue lesions developing on their feet and toes, which eventually got dubbed as "COVID toes". Doctors have also reported a few instances where patients in their 30s and 40s have suffered sudden strokes due to the COVID-19 virus, which is said to be as a result of blood clotting issues.
