Ponniyin Selvan: 2 is one of the most anticipated films of the Tamil cinema industry. The first part of the epic film was released last year and was one of the Blockbuster hits of 2022. The movie is based on the well-known five-part book series by writer Kalki and is the Magnum Opus of award-winning director Mani Ratnam. It has a huge star cast with Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha Krishnan and others in important roles. Both films have music composed by Oscar Award-winning A.R. Rahman and the second part of Ponniyin Selvan is set to release next month on April 28.

The production companies backing Ponniyin Selvan: 2, Lyca production and Madras Talkies, began promotions for the film as they released the making video of costumes and design for each character over the last few weeks. The first single from the film Aga Naga was released and the makers also announced the film trailer and audio launch of Ponniyin Selvan: 2 will happen at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, Chennai, on 29th March. Announcing the event, A.R. Rahaman posted a special video showing the making of songs for the film on twitter yesterday. The video showed the album will have 7 songs and popular singers Shakthisree Gopalan, Shweta Mohan and Chinmayi Sripaada would be a part of the album, including foreign technicians and a huge orchestra.
Well-known singer Chinmayi Sripaada has made a tweet clarifying her presence in the film. The singer has stated "I have sung in Ponniyin Selvan 2 *Telugu* (not in Tamil). Also I recorded only 2 days ago and wasn’t expecting it to be retained or anything as usual and thought I’d be replaced. Sooo. Grateful”. After the tweet, fans raised many questions about why she didn't sing the Tamil version and other questions about the films. The singer replied to many comments and answered queries.
