Shruti Haasan started 2023 on a bright note playing the female lead in Telugu superstars Nandamuri Balakrishna's Veera Simha Reddy and 'Megastar' Chiranjeevi's Waltair Veerayya, which were released during Sankranthi. The leading South Indian actress on Wednesday evening, July 5, took part in an Ask Me Anything (AMA) session on Instagram, with one fan querying her about when she would work in a film with her father 'Ulaganayagan' Kamal Haasan. Shruti, who will be seen next opposite pan-Indian sensation Prabhas in the highly-anticipated Salaar, opened up about how she would be excited to collaborate with Kamal Haasan if the right opportunity presented itself, while also sharing details about a film they had worked on earlier which remains uncompleted to date.

Speaking about collaborating with Kamal Haasan, Shruti Haasan posted a reply on her Instagram Story saying, "It's an unfulfilled dream, for sure. We once started a project, but we didn't complete it, which was really heartbreaking. But, definitely, in the future, it will be my honor if I get an opportunity to work with my father. So, I'm really excited for the future. Appa is now the busiest actor. So, it totally depends on him. But, I would be so excited." The project Shruti referred to is Sabaash Naidu, a spin-off of the character of Balram Naidu, the RAW operative from Kamal Haasan's 2008 blockbuster Dasavathaaram, which had a schedule filmed in Los Angeles, California, with production afterward put on hold. While Shruti was set to be seen in a key role alongside Kamal Haasan, her younger sister Akshara Haasan too was revealed to be a part of the team and joined as an assistant director. During the AMA session, Shruti Haasan went on to reveal that Kamal Haasan would address her by calling her Satakopa and that fans should ask him why so.
Recently, Shruti posted a video in which she was seen grooving to the title track from Kamal Haasan's 1986 hit film, Vikram, with the veteran actor surprising fans by making an appearance towards the end. She also spoke about her big-screen international debut in The Eye and said that she isn't completely sure about release date plans as yet, but expressed her excitement for everyone to see it. Kamal Haasan, on the other hand, will be seen next in the magnum opus Indian 2 being directed by Shankar, with the film's release being planned for either later this year or in early 2024. He was also recently announced to be playing a key role in Prabhas' big-budget sci-fi film, Project K, under Mahanati fame Nag Ashwin's direction, with the film also starring Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Disha Patani. Kamal Haasan also announced his next big film earlier this week, the tentatively titled KH 233, to be directed by Thunivu fame H. Vinoth's direction. The iconic actor will also be reuniting with ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam once again after 35 years for the tentatively titled KH 234, which will feature music by A. R. Rahman. Kamal Haasan will next be joining hands with filmmaker Pa. Ranjith for a film, which was announced during the Vikram audio launch event in 2022, while there is also a talk that the actor has been holding discussions with National Award-winning director Vetri Maaran for a special project.
