Music legend Ilaiyaraja is the soul of music throughout Tamil Nadu because his songs are often played in marriage halls, pubs and hotels. The musician is not interested in seeing his work monetized without prior approval.

Earlier, he demanded remuneration from pubs when they played his songs and asked his close friend SP Balasubramaniam to stop singing super hit numbers from 70s and 80s. His newest demand is to remove the karaoke version of all his top songs.

While Ilaiyaraja demands to remove his karaoke from apps like Smule and 15 similar platforms, it will also affect a lot of song troupes and stage performers who rely on it. The background karaoke is what they base their songs on due to lack of instruments. Ilaiyaraja’s songs are soon to be removed from this apps and it’s going to affect a lot of small time performers.
