Blockbuster Tamil filmmaker Shankar penned his wishes to 'Ulaganayagan' Kamal Haasan on the occasion of his birthday on Tuesday, November 7, while also sharing a special photo from the sets of their upcoming film, Indian 2. Taking to social media, the hit director expressed his joy at getting the opportunity to collaborate with the leading actor once again after their Indian (1996) and bring back the iconic Senapathy character. "Wishing our Ulaganayagan @ikamalhaasan sir a very happy birthday! It is wonderful to have had the chance to work with you again to bring Senapathy back! Hope you keep entertaining us and continue to inspire millions more! #indian2" (sic), Shankar wrote on X as he posted a picture from the sets of the highly-anticipated action drama film.

Shankar's birthday wishes for Kamal Haasan have come at a time when there is still quite a lot of chatter among fans on social media after the first visuals from Indian 2 were released last week. The intro video gave audiences a glimpse at the scale of the massive production, while also showcasing other cast members in the film namely Siddharth, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Rakul Preet Singh, S J Suryah, Bobby Simha, Samuthirakani, Gulshan Grover, Brahmanandam, Delhi Ganesh, including late actors Nedumudi Venu, Vivek, Manobala, and G. Marimuthu. The Indian 2 - an intro video also hinted that the film will pick up from the events of Indian, and it will be interesting to see what Shankar and Kamal Haasan are cooking for fans up ahead in the sequel.
Indian 2 is currently in the post-production stages and is gearing up to open in cinemas in 2024, with an official release date announcement eagerly awaited. The film has music by 'Rockstar' Anirudh Ravichander, who is expected to deliver yet another chart-topping hit album and a power-packed background score along the lines of his previous collaboration with Kamal Haasan in Vikram (2022).
