Speaking about how she sang the 'Aga Naga' song's lyrics, Shakthisree Gopalan said, "It was an exciting opportunity as an artiste to sing this song. Of course, no matter how much I say, it won't be enough, but I want to take a moment to thank Rahman sir for giving me the opportunity to sing this masterpiece. And, the Tamil lyrics have been written by Elango Krishnan, which are like pearls strung together in a necklace. Actually, the first time I heard the song and the lyrics, it was like a tongue twister, but I feel like somehow the manner in which Rahman sir composed, it evolved in such a way and the song took me on a journey."
Upon being queried about whether she received any inputs from director Mani Ratnam to sing 'Aga Naga', Shakthisree stated, "Actually, Madras Talkies and Tips Tamil Official released a making video on social media and it was an awesome experience to relive all those moments once again. When we recorded this song, one of the main briefs I got was that it was going to be from the perspective of the Chola princess Kundavai. And, even if you can't see it now, Rahman sir's composition, orchestration and the verses give a royal feel and a regal quality, which I felt was very inspiring."
