Actor, producer and direcor Sasikumar is on a roll. He made quite a splash with an important role in Superstar Rajinikanth's Petta, which hit the screens early this year, for Pongal. He has a number of other movies in hand with director Ponram's uniquely titled MGR Magan, being one of them. This movie, bankrolled by Screen Scene Media Entertainment Pvt. A source close to the MGR Magan team has revealed that the shoot is almost complete and only 3 days of shoot are pending. We also have information that this movie's makers are planning to release the movie for Pongal 2020. If this happens, then Sasikumar will be going up against Superstar at the Box Office, as Rajini's Darbar will also be hitting the screens at the same time. This movie's team have worked super fast to get close to the finish line, this soon. MGR Magan will also see Sathyaraj, Saranya Ponvannan, Samuthirakani and Singam Puli in vital roles.

True to his proven style, director Ponram has chosen a rural backdrop once again for MGR Magan. However, despite this movie being his fourth directorial, this movie will be the first time that Ponram has chosen somebody other than Sivakarthikeyan to be his hero. Ponram and Sivakarthikeyan's Varutha Padatha Valibar Sangam and Rajini Murugan turned out to become blockbusters while their last venture Seema Raja, received mixed reviews.
