Rohini, one ofKollywood's most versatile actors, appears to be in a mood to try her hand at various tasks in Kollywood. The beautiful actress is busy working on several scripts (for short films and other similar projects) and is playing a vital role in Mysskin’s Nandalala (also spelt as Nandhalala). Yet she foundtime to dub for Nathiya, who plays a psychologist in Linguswamy’s movie for teenagers – Pattalam.
Only a year ago, Rohini stunned cinemagoers with her brilliant performance in Ms. Mary Enna Seiyapogiral, an offbeat short film played in several theatres before the main show. Her brilliant performance in the short film left everyone spellbound. In fact, at the end of the show, the audience left the cinema halls discussingRohini’s performance more than the performance of the main film's characters.
The actress has a special interest in scripting and directing short films and documentaries. In fact, she has limited her participation in films to challenging or interesting roles – such as the one she does in Nandalala – so that she can pursue film direction.
Produced by Tirupathi Brothers and directed by Rohan Krishna, Pattalam is about a bunch of teenagers and their grapple with adolescence; but the film is farfrom the run-of-the-mill teenager movies. Linguswamy and Subash Chandra Bose promise that this film provides ten times the funof Kana Kaanum Kalangal, a famous TV serial with a similar theme.
PS: Pattalam’s release is postponed to the end of March since the filmmakersfeel itcould distract its younger audiences from preparing for their exams.
