One of the biggest ventures in development, director Shankar is reuniting with Kamal Haasan for Indian 2 after a gap of 23 years when they came together for the blockbuster, Indian, in 1996. With filming set to kick-off from August 12 at Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh, major casting additions are being made for this Lyca Productions project, which will have its music scored by Anirudh Ravichander. Earlier this week, actress Priya Bhavani Shankar during an exclusive interview with Galatta revealed that she has been cast as one of the female leads in Indian 2. Now, Rakul Preet Singh, during the promotions for her upcoming Telugu film, Manmadhudu 2, went on to state that she too is playing an important role in Indian 2 and will be paired opposite actor Siddharth. She stated, “I will be seen as a criminal lawyer in Nithiin’s film, while I’m paired opposite Siddharth in Bharateeyudu 2 (Indian 2). I have also signed a Hindi film and also awaiting the release of Marjaavan,”.
As of now, apart from Kamal Haasan, Kajal Aggarwal, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Siddharth and Rakul Preet Singh have been confirmed in starring roles in Indian 2 with Vidyut Jamwal, and Aishwarya Rajesh’s casting set to be confirmed in the days ahead. Indian 2 has a strong technical team on board which includes names like editor Sreekar Prasad, art direction by T. Muthuraj and cinematography by R. Rathnavelu. Furthermore, the film has a tentative release plan and will be coming out mostly on April 14, 2021 on the festive occasion of the Tamil New Year.
