‘Superstar’ Rajinikanth’s upcoming film, DARBAR, under A. R. Murugadoss’ direction is at present being shot at Mumbai with Santosh Sivan handling the cinematography. Lyca Productions is leaving no stone unturned with this venture after the grand success of last year’s 2.0 and had announced Darbar to be a Pongal 2020 release. Among the many notable names apart from ‘Thalaivar’, comedian Yogi Babu has resumed shooting at Mumbai with sources close to us now informing that the star’s portions will be completely wrapped up on June 30; the same date when the ongoing second schedule too will be finished. Yogi Babu is expected to be called back for patchwork on the film after one or two months once major portions of all stars are canned.
Expectations are massive for Darbar as it is being billed to be a mass entertainer and will see Rajinikanth wearing the police uniform in a film 28 years after he donned the khakhi in Pandiyan. The film’s music is being composed by Anirudh Ravichander, who is working on a ‘Thalaivar’ film after delivering smash hit chartbusters earlier this year in Petta.

Darbar will also see Nayanthara as the female lead and this is the fourth time she will be seen in a Rajinikanth film after Chandramukhi, Sivaji and Kuselan. Bollywood actors Suniel Shetty and Prateik Babbar have been cast as the antagonists with fans awaiting a cracker of an entertainer considering the venture has a stellar technical team featuring the likes of Sreekar Prasad for the editing, T. Santanam for the art direction, the Ram-Laxman duo for the stunt choreography, lyrics by Vivek and Niharikha Bhasin Khan overseeing the costume designs.
