Rahman to don Michael Jackson look!
Mozart of Madras A.R Rahman will carry the late pop singer Michael Jackson's look on stage during his much-awaited upcoming international tour 'A.R. Rahman Jai Ho The Journey Home World Tour 2010'. Popular designer Ritu Beri will design unique LED costumes for A.R. Rahman and the entire cast of his world tour, which includes artists, musicians and the dance troupe. Produced by Deepak Gattani of Rapport Productions, the concert will begin on June 11 in New York and travel to over 20 major arenas and cities worldwide.
“I think he has evolved from the blacks and whites and has changed his sartorial style very much. We have experimented with burgundy jackets and a lot of stripes. In fact, one of his looks is so much like Michael Jackson as he dons a nice cap and a long jacket,” designer Beri said to a leading daily.
“Working with a composer of Rahman’s calibre has been very exciting and it was a prestigious assignment. Designing for him is a unique experience as he is so simple and down-to-earth and just lets the creative people do their job. It’s always the Indian element which brings excitement to my designs. There are over 300 costumes which spell youthful modernity and have a distinctively Indian touch with a new, modern presentation,” she added.
