Raghava Lawrence's Rudhran is his first big film coming out in theatres after the spectacular box office success of his his Kanchana 3: Muni 4, which released in 2019. Having worked with big superstars in several languages over the years, the blockbuster actor-filmmaker recently took part in a special fans festival event hosted by Galatta Media where he spoke about the journey of his career in the film industry, while also opening up on his friendship with Tamil superstar 'Thalapathy' Vijay. Speaking about his bond with Vijay, Lawrence said, "In Thulladha Manamum Thullum, there's a song called 'Megamai Vanthu' in which I worked with him for the first time. The journey of our friendship began from that point on and after that Thirumalai and so on. No matter how busy I'm in Telugu, I'll come running when my friend calls me. At that time, when I decided not to do solo songs in films, Thirumalai came my way. Just when I was thinking to become a director in Telugu and then move away completely from the screen, I was asked to do a song in Thirumalai with Vijay sir. Had it been someone else, I wouldn't have done it. But, since he's my friend, I instantly agreed."

After being a special edit video featuring himself and Vijay, Lawrence added, "I like his (Vijay) silence a lot. He doesn't speak much. His actions speak louder than his words. Whenever I need some help with my Trust (Raghava Lawrence Charitable Trust), he'll do the needful immediately. And, the children in my Trust, each time Vijay sir's films release, they will express their wish to watch them. So, I'll call Vijay sir and tell him about how the children want to watch his film. I'll ask him if he can make any arrangements for the tickets and he'll say that he'll organize a special show for us. When I see this special edit that you just showed, I felt really happy that it had us pitted against each other before becoming friends." Upon being asked when he will share screen space with 'Thalapathy' Vijay in a full-length role in the same film, Raghava Lawrence said, "Everything that is happening in my life is not according to my plan. It's all God's plan. If such a thing (a film with Vijay) happens, I'll be the first person who will be happy about it."
