Two-time National Award-winning Tamil actor Dhanush's Raayan is gearing up for a grand worldwide theatrical release this year and there has been tremendous excitement surrounding the film ever since its announcement in 2023. The upcoming film is a multi-starrer featuring the likes of Sundeep Kishan, Kalidas Jayaram, SJ Suryah, Selvaraghavan, Prakash Raj, Dushara Vijayan, Aparna Balamurali, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, and Saravanan in key roles, with the songs and the background being composed by Academy Award-winning music director A. R. Rahman.
With principal photography on Raayan wrapped up sometime back and post-production works currently underway, Dhanush on Sunday, April 14, on the festive occasion of the Tamil New Year, dropped a special surprise in the form of a new poster featuring him alongside Sundeep Kishan, Kalidas Jayaram, and Dushara Vijayan, who are said to be playing siblings, and are seen posing for a family photo. The big surprise from Dhanush didn't end just there as it has also been revealed that the much awaited Raayan first single will be coming out soon.

Announced to be releasing in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi languages, Raayan is carrying a huge buzz among fans as it is Dhanush's second directorial after Pa Paandi (2017). The film initially tentatively titled D50 is billed to be a gangster action drama set amidst the North Madras backdrop and is the fifth time the actor-filmmaker has teamed up with A. R. Rahman after Raanjhanaa (2013), Maryan (2013), and Atrangi Re (2021), while their Bollywood project Tere Ishk Mein under Aanand L. Rai's direction is also currently in development. Although no release date for Dhanush's Raayan has been announced yet, it is being speculated that the film will open in cinemas this summer and an official announcement can be expected anytime soon.
