Kannada actor Puneeth Rajkumar passed away on October 29, with his untimely death still leaving a deep scar among many in Karnataka and other parts of the country. The superstar had been associated in a number of projects prior to his tragic passing among which included a full-length documentary titled Gandhada Gudi along with filmmaker Amoghavarsha JS. Puneeth, who was floored with Amoghavarsha's work in Wild Karnataka sometime back, had collaborated with the filmmaker for the Gandhada Gudi documentary that would explore the marine life of the state’s coast.
On the occasion of Parvathamma Rajkumar, Puneeth's mother's birth anniversary on Monday, the Gandhada Gudi team released a special teaser promoting Karnataka's biodiversity, forests, and natural habitat. Gandhada Gudi will show the late Kannada superstar exploring underwater life in the Arabian Sea and the deepest regions of the seabed and give us a glimpse of the hidden beauty many do not get to witness. According to reports, Puneeth had two titles in mind for the documentary, Gandhada Gudi and Ondu Muttina Kathe (both being titles of Dr. Rajkumar's blockbusters), with the former being zeroed in on. The teaser is an emotional one for many of Puneeth's fans, who have been expressing their joy on social media after witnessing their idol once again.
In a tweet before his demise, Puneeth wrote about Gandhada Gudi, "A story was born decades ago as a tribute to our people and the land, and celebrated its forests and habitat, inspiring many generations to come. The time to repeat the legend has now come." Initially planned for a release on November 1, Gandhada Gudi is currently in its post-production stages and is slated to come out in theatres in 2022. Produced By Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar under the PRK Productions banner, the upcoming Kannada documentary film's technical team features music by B. Ajaneesh Loknath, with Prateek Shetty handling cinematography.
