Blockbuster filmmaker Chimbu Deven, known best for Imsai Arasan 23am Pulikesi (2006) starring 'Vaigai Puyal' Vadivelu and Puli (2015) with 'Thalapathy' Vijay, is back with an announcement on his next big film, which has been revealed to be titled Boat. Billed to be a "fun-filled historic ride", the upcoming film will star Yogi Babu in the lead role, with the title reveal announcement video also revealing that a teaser will be coming out soon. Chimbu Deven and Yogi Babu's Boat also starring 96 fame Gouri G Kishan is being produced by Prabha Premkumar's Maali and Manvi Movie Makers and is the production banner's second venture, with Ghibran announced to be the music director after his chart-topping songs in Ajith Kumar's Thunivu earlier this year. The film also includes a highly-skilled and talented technical team featuring the likes of Madhesh Manickam as the director of photography, Mani Maran handling the editing, T. Santhanam overseeing the production design, with S. Ayyapan serving as the art director.
Expectations will be high for Chimbu Deven to come out on top with Boat after he impressed Tamil cinema audiences in his directorial debut, Imsai Arasan 23am Pulikesi, with the film produced under filmmaker Shankar's S Pictures banner going to become a phenomenal box office success, while also earning Vadivelu and P. Krishnamoorthy the Tamil Nadu State Film Awards for Best Comedian and Best Art Director respectively. Boat is also the next big project in Yogi Babu's long list of films as he will be seen in 'Superstar' Rajinikanth's Jailer, Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan, Sivakarthikeyan's Ayalaan, Suriya's Kanguva, and MS Dhoni's debut production venture Let's Get Married to name a notable few.
Chimbu Deven will be looking to hit the high note once again as his last big theatrical release was Vijay's Puli after which he directed the hyperlink anthology film Kasada Tabara (2021), which skipped a big screen outing and premiered on streaming on the SonyLIV OTT platform. The film included six segments garnering positive feedback among audiences and featured music by six different composers, cinematographers, and editors for each segment. Chimbu Deven's next after Kasada Tabara was the anthology thriller streaming series Victim (2022) in which he directed the 'Kottai Pakku Vathalum Mottai Maadi Sitharum' segment and featured Nassar, Thambi Ramaiah, and RJ Vigneshkanth.
