Karthi was last seen playing the lead role in Jeethu Joseph’s Thambi which received mixed reviews from the critics and fans. His next release would be Sulthan which is helmed by Bakkiyaraj Kannan of Remo fame. Notably, this film will mark the Kollywood debut of the young and happening actress, Rashmika Mandanna. Touted to be a fun filled romantic entertainer, Sulthan’s shooting is yet to be fully completed and the makers are currently waiting for the pandemic to resolve. The fans were constantly asking for an update regarding the film for the past few days and their request has now been fulfilled.

The film is produced by SR Prakash Babu and SR Prabhu under the banner of Dream Warrior Pictures and Prabhu took to his Twitter page to share an update. He assured that Sulthan will be a complete entertainer for the fans. “#Sulthan 90% shoot & Major edit are over. Looking at the possibilities to finish the balance works beside #COVID19 .This will be one of the biggest production & a complete entertainer from @DreamWarriorpic As you all know.. no plans on the release yet! @Bakkiyaraj_k #JaiSulthan”, tweeted SR Prabhu.

Sulthan has music scored by Vivek - Mervin, cinematography by Kaithi and Master fame Sathyan Sooryan and editing by Ruben. Veteran actor Napoleon will be seen playing the role of Karthi’s father in this film. This film is expected to bring out the lighter and fun side of Karthi and the fans are eagerly waiting to catch the film in the theatres.

Recently, a section of media had reported that Sulthan will have a direct OTT release on Prime Video, stating that it was signed as a package deal along with Suriya's Soorarai Pottru. However, when we checked with our sources close to Dream Warrior Pictures, they denied the news as a baseless rumour and SR Prabhu's latest tweet is also suggestive of the same.

Apart from Sulthan, Karthi is also a part of Mani Ratnam’s historical epic, Ponniyin Selvan which is planned to be shot on a grand scale. Karthi will reportedly be seen playing the role of Vandiyathevan in this mega biggie that will have music scored by A.R.Rahman. Produced by Madras Talkies in association with Lyca Productions, Ponniyin Selvan also has actors like Chiyaan Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Ashwin Kakamanu, Prabhu, Jayaram, Vikram Prabhu, Sarath Kumar, Mohan Raman, Riyaz Khan, Sobhita Dhulipala part of the cast.
