S.A. Rajakannu is a veteran producer and director who introduced many significant talents to Tamil cinema In 1970 through the films he produced. He introduced the director Bharathiraja, with the film 16 Vayathinile and so on. He also produced many films that have leading actors including Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan in the lead roles. The 77-year-old producer passed away yesterday. It was speculated that the producer passed away due to health-related issues yesterday and his funeral will be held today.
Popular actor Radikaa Sarathkumar who has been acting in many characters and supporting roles in recent years has shared her condolence for the producer of her first film Kizhakey Pogum Rail on her social media page. Award-winning director Bharathraja said "the demise of the producer S.A. Rajakannu who brought light into my life by introducing me as a director with the film “16 Vayathinile” is shocking and saddening." He said this a loss in his family and ended the statement saying “Deepest Condolences”. Many fans and movie buffs have shared their condolences on the demise of the producer on social media.

Rakakannu under this production house Sree Amman Creation has bankrolled many projects from 16 Vayathinile that had Kamal Haasan, ‘Superstar’ Rajinikanth, Sri Devi and others in important roles They then made many films including Kizhakke Pogum Rail, Kanni Paruvathinile. Arthangal Ayiram is a film that was also directed by the Producer. His other films were Valibame Vaa, Ponnu Pudichirukku and Enga Chinna Rasa and he also produced the critically acclaimed film starrer 'Ulaganayagan' Kamal Haasan titled Mahanadhi.
