The issue came under the spotlight after a FIR was filed stating the song "Manikya Malarayi Poovi" from Oru Adaar Love hurt religious sentiments of the Muslims. The Apex Court in their statement further added that all states will restrain initiating any further criminal action.
In their petition, Varrier’s lawyer stated the "song is originally from an old folk song from Kerala which was written in 1978 by Mr. PMA Jabbar and was first sung by Mr. Thalassery Rafeeq, in the praise of the Prophet and his wife Beevi Khadija" and that "the claims that it hurts the religious sentiments of the Muslim Community are without any basis".
With the judgment now out, the makers as well as Priya Prakash Varrier will want to focus on kick-starting promotions full-fledged for their film, Oru Adaar Love, slated to hit screens on March 3.
