The rom-com was the directorial debut of Bakkiyaraj Kannan, who was a former associate of blockbuster filmmaker Atlee, and opened in cinemas worldwide on October 7, 2016, with the film reportedly going on to make more than 70 crores in global box office collections. Remo featured Sivakarthikeyan opposite National Award-winning actress Keerthy Suresh for the second time after their Rajinimurugan and was produced by R. D. Raja's 24AM Studios banner, with 'Rockstar' Anirudh Ravichander's songs and background score turning out to be huge pillars of strength for the film's success.
The second Sivakarthikeyan film to come out in October was Doctor released in 2021 and was also the first venture for the actor to hit 100 crores in box office collections. The black comedy action film directed by Nelson Dilipkumar was the filmmaker's directorial debut after Kolamaavu Kokila in 2018 and featured an ensemble star cast that included Priyanka Arul Mohan playing the female lead, with Vinay Rai as the antagonist, followed by Yogi Babu, Redin Kingsley, Archana Chandhoke, Ilavarasu, Arun Alexander, Zaara Vineet, Deepa Shankar, Sunil Reddy, Shiva Arvind, among others appearing in pivotal roles. Anirudh Ravichander once again delivered on the musical front and this time with Doctor as well, which was produced by Kotapadi J. Rajesh's KJR Studios in association with Sivakarthikeyan Productions, and was also incidentally the first film to be released in theatres after the second lockdown.
Sivakarthikeyan will no doubt be looking to cast his spell once again in the hopes of making October 2022 a memorable month with the release of Prince. The upcoming Tamil-Telugu bilingual directed by Anudeep KV of Jathi Ratnalu fame has been produced by Sree Venkateswara Cinemas LLP in association with Shanthi Talkies and Suresh Productions banners, and will be released in Tamil Nadu by GN Anbu Chezhian's Gopuram Cinemas. Prince will see Sivakarthikeyan paired with Ukrainian model-actress Maria Ryaboshapka, while the film's supporting cast features the likes of veteran actor Sathyaraj, Premgi Amaren, 'Prankster' Rahul, choreographer Sathish Krishnan among others in vital roles, and music composed by Thaman. S.
Apart from Prince, Sivakarthikeyan is working on his Maaveeran under Mandela fame Madonne Ashwin's direction, after which he is expected to begin filming the tentatively titled SK 21 to be directed by Rangoon fame Rajkumar Periasamy, which will be bankrolled by Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International (RKFI) in association with Sony Pictures Films, with the actor also recently confirming his next venture to be with Maanaadu director Venkat Prabhu, while post-production works are being carried out on his science-fiction film, Ayalaan, helmed by Indru Netru Naalai’s R. Ravikumar.
