Ahead of the release of the film, Sarath Kumar gave an exclusive interview to Galatta Plus with the national award-winning critic Baradwaj Rangan. The actor shared his experiences and stated he has introduced more debutant directors than any other actor. He further spoke about the debut director of Por Thozil Vignesh Raja and said he would judge debut directors by story narration. He said “I was supposed to do Gentleman with Shankar first, I said it will be a good movie for Kunjumon. Even though, I did not act in the film, that movie was a huge hit. When asked why he could not act in the film." When asked if he could not do it because of date issue, the actor revealed "there was a problem between producer Kunjmon and director Pavithran. He asked me not to act in Pavithran's film. I recommended Gentleman to him, and I said we will do it with Shankar sir, he narrated the story and a photo shoot was also done. He asked me not to do I Love India with Pavithran. I said I will do both the film and then what happened was, Pavithran said I must keep my moustache for the role. Shankar said that only if I remove the moustache it will be nice for the character. So, I took the decision to do the film with Pavithran as he gave me Suriyan. So, like this, I have seen many debutant directors."
