Popular South Indian singer Rakshita Suresh met with an accident on Sunday morning in Malaysia when her car collided with a road divider and ended up smashing the side of the road while she was en route to the airport. The singer, who sang the chart-topping hit, 'Sol' in Ponniyin Selvan: 1, issued a statement on social media explaining her miraculous escape, while also informing that she has sustained minor external injuries. Taking to Instagram, Rakshita said, "Met with a major accident today. The car that I was in rammed into a divider, and smashed to the side of the road while I was heading back to the airport in Malaysia this morning. My entire life flashed infront of me during those 10 seconds of impact.."
Rakshita further stated, "Thanks to the airbags, otherwise things would've been worse. Still shaking from whatever happened, but I'm so glad that me, the driver and the other co-passenger who was sitting in the front seat are safe with just minor external injuries and a few internal injuries. Grateful and lucky to be alive." Fans have been sending in their speedy recovery wishes to the popular singer after her big escape earlier today, with many also extending their support. Rakshita shot to fame after her appearances on Vijay Television's hit reality television singing competition, Super Singer. Having started out her career through the Asianet television competition named 'Little Star Singer' in 2009, she gained huge popularity after she became a runner-up and was declared as the Golden voice of Super Singer season 6. Rakshitha soon began singing in films in Telugu and Kannada before being launched by Hiphop Tamizha in Tamil in Silambarasan TR's Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven in which she sang the 'Pattamarangal' song. She has also collaborated with Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman singing hit songs namely 'Yaane Yaane' (Mimi), 'Kaalathukkam Nee Venum' (Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu), 'Yele Ilanchingamey' (Cobra), and more recently 'Kirunage' and 'Veera Raja Veera' (the Kannada version of Ponniyin Selvan: 2).
