We're only two days away from the grand release of Mani Ratnam's magnum opus, Ponniyin Selvan: 2, and the excitement for the epic historical action adventure film featuring music composed by A. R. Rahman is at an all-time high as tickets are getting sold out like hot cakes in all centres as per early advance ticket bookings. The sequel to the 2022 box office blockbuster, Ponniyin Selvan: 1, releasing in theatres worldwide on April 28, will see the lead stars from the first installment reprising their roles among whom include 'Chiyaan' Vikram as Aditha Karikalan, Jayam Ravi as Arunmozhi Varman, Karthi as Vanthiyathevan, Trisha as Kundavai, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in dual roles as Nandini and Mandakini, with Jayaram as Azhwarkadiyan Nambi, Aishwarya Lekshmi as Poonguzhali, Sobhita Dhulipala as Vaanathi, among others appearing alongside an ensemble cast. With top gear promotions already underway, a special Ponniyin Selvan: 2 sneak peek has now come out as a surprise treat for fans ahead of the film's release in theatres this week.

The new Ponniyin Selvan: 2 sneak peek starts off showing Karthi as Vanthiyathevan in a small temple-like structure in a rather secluded place at night. We see him tied to ropes when he starts to sense that he is not the only person there. The visuals then show a being moving fast holding a lantern as Karthi sings a prayer in fear and dedicating it to Goddess Kali in the hopes of the 'ghost' to disappear. A Godman-like human figure then appears near Karthi and chanting 'Hara Hara Mahadeva', while revealing that he is Kalamugan and has come to sacrifice him to the gods.
At this point, Karthi realizes something amiss and gazes closely at Kalamugan to exclaim Azhwarkkadiyan Nambi's name. Jayaram's disguise as Nambi is foiled and Karthi demands that he untie him. As Nambi asks him how he found out who he was, Vanthiyathevan reveals that his pot belly revealed his true identity. Jayaram as Nambi then tells Karthi that he had come there to rescue him, while telling him that he had watched Ravidasan (Kishore) beat him up and is surprised that he isn't dead yet. Karthi as Vanthiyethaven reveals that he too had been putting up an act and had listened to their entire conversation. He then informs Nambi to search for Aditha Karikalana ('Chiyaan' Vikram), while he will go and alert princess Kundavai (Trisha).
