Ilango Krishnan stated, "When Mani sir explained the sequence, he told me two things need to be in that song. The first situation was about the love and attraction Kundavai had towards Vanthiyathevan. He told me to convey those aspects in the song, but in a rather subtle manner. Not in an extravagant way, but in an intimate manner. The second thing he told me was that Kundavai must have a possessiveness for her nation. She's a princess. She will possess a feeling of ownership over this land. 'This land is mine. The people here, this river, this mountain, this waterfall... all of this belongs me.' That sense of ownership must be there in that song." He added, "And, her love for Vanthiyathevan must be there. This was the note Mani sir had shared with me about the song. He told me not to divulge her love for him in a revealing way and not use any words that will let that out. Love has taken over her and she has begun to feel it."
