With many of India's leading celebrities pitching in their contributions for the relief efforts for those afflicted by the COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus Pandemic, all eyes were on to witness Thalapathy Vijay’s move during this crisis situation. Yesterday, it came to everyone's notice that Vijay had donated a sum of 1.3 crores as a donation towards Corona relief fund. Not only donating the money for Tamil Nadu CM’s fund, Vijay had even extended his support for the neighboring states like Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and even Pondicherry.

V Narayanasamy, the Chief Minister of Pondicherry has now issued a video thanking Vijay’s generosity. He has also urged other Tamil actors to help the government assist people better during this pandemic. V Narayanasamy’s statement reads as follows: “Actor Vijay has donated a sum of ₹5 lakhs to Chief Minister relief fund, I thank him for that. His generous nature to help the people of Pondicherry is appreciable. I am overwhelmed by this kind gesture of Vijay and I express my best wishes to him. I request other actors to follow Vijay’s footsteps and provide more fund for the government of Pondicherry so that we can serve our people better during this corona pandemic.”
